Category Page: Education, literacy and life-long learning opportunities

Education and literacy are key contributors to health and prosperity. The process of receiving or giving instruction to transfer information and knowledge is education, whereas literacy is the ability to access, understand, evaluate, communicate, and act on the received information. Effective education for children and lifelong learning for adults are important aspects of empowering individuals to improve their lives. As well as providing direct health information, education impacts health indirectly in that it also affects an individual’s employment opportunities, determines their income, and influences who they meet and where they live.
